Install SageTV Web Interface on your SageTV PC and access it from any machine with a web browser, including your cell phone or mobile device. The SageTV Web Interface allows you to remotely view your personal TV guide, view streamed live or recorded TV programs, remotely schedule and manage your recorded television programs, manage and view (or listen to) your music, pictures, dvds and videos that reside on your SageTV at home.

This excellent plugin gets called many names including webserver, webguide and webadmin but the important thing to know is that SageTV Web Interface is a free, SageTV personalized, online TV guide and much, much more. For new users of SageTV, the first plugin I always recommend they install is the user-created and supported SageTV Web User Interface. SageTV turns your PC into a souped-up TIVO that can do DVR functions, movies, music and so much more.

I've read a few blogs/forums about combining home server and media center, but no one has had any luck yet, afaik. One of my favorite Home Theater PC software programs is SageTV. Sage's UI isn't as polished as media center, but it has tons of plugins and is highly customizable. Instead, I use SageTV Media Center, which has a plugin for home server. I tried media center 2005, but didn't like all the restrictions. They're supposed to be accebile from anywhere via, but I'm still setting all that up as well. I'm in the process now of moving my music, drivers, and shared files over to the server. Haven't had to restore anything yet, so I'm not sure how well it works. It also has client software that does nightly backups for all your systems. It's ment to be a headless system- you can log in remotely to take care of most stuff. I just used firefox to download what I needed quickly. It does have ie installed, but the default security settings don't let you do much with it. It's based on Small Business Server 2003, so it has similar requirements/ issues. I'm running it on a custom rig with SageTV for my media center.
